Seattle Public Library strives to inform, enrich and empower every citizen in the community by creating and promoting free and easy access to a vast array of ideas and information and by supporting lifelong learning and love of reading.
Arts, Recreation and Literature at the
Central Temporary Library provides the following services:
- The Art, Recreation and Literature Collection includes books, periodicals and reference material pertaining to all artistic disciplines. Source materials, literature and repertoire for all disciplines are available. The department is also an image archive and houses numerous art and picture files. - The Arts Opportunity File and Callboard list funding and other opportunities for artists and organizations.
- The online resource
Informed Artist lists opportunities and resources for funding, competitions, employment and more.
Washington Center for the Book
at the Seattle Public Library is devoted to celebrating the written word and to facilitating the exchange of ideas evoked by the reading of literature. The Center offers book discussions and literary and humanities programs.
Seattle Public Library - Central Temporary (Downtown) and Branches
All Seattle Public Library branches provide at least one computer with Microsoft, Word and Excel. Seattle Public Library cardholders may access the Internet for free for 45 minutes per day on a first come, first served basis.
The Central Temporary and several neighborhood branches offer free
computer classes.
