How-To Tools

A good overview and checklist on developing your own artist cooperative was written by Seattle's Karen Guzak, describing her experiences developing the Sunny Arms Artist Cooperative and Union Art Cooperative. This information can be found in  Angel Arms Works .

In 1995, the National Assembly of Local Arts Agencies published Live/Work Space: Housing for Artists in Your Community by Jan Plimpton. This monograph explores the issues involved in developing affordable housing for artists in community settings. It is available from  Americans for the Arts .

A good range of information about legal issues surrounding artist housing can be found in  ArtHouse. It also includes a guide to publications about artist housing.
